Sydney Shields

Born and raised in Minnesota, Sydney grew up camping all over the state with her family. She later attended the University of Iowa, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in 2022. She was introduced to Y Camp in 2024 as an overnight leader and quickly connected with the camp community. In 2025, she returned as the Media Specialist for the summer season, capturing the spirit of camp through photos, videos, and storytelling.

Sydney now lives in Boone with her cat, Bug. Outside of work, she enjoys watching sports, crafting, and sharing endless photos of her adorable niece, Maddy. 

She believes a clean, well‑cared‑for camp makes for a happier, healthier experience for everyone!

Fun Fact: Sydney’s cat, Bug, is also a Vikings fan—probably by influence.
